“Third Annual LIVE@U-Town: Oldies Night & Cruise In"

The eagerly anticipated third annual LIVE@U-Town: Oldies Night & Cruise In will be Saturday, August 23rd at the United Methodist Church in Uniontown. “I can’t think of a better way to give back to this community and this church than with a family-fun evening of food, friends and fellowship,” said event organizer, Kelly Schiele. “This event started out, literally, on a wing and a prayer three years ago - what fun we’ve had and friends we’ve made ever since!”
The event kicks off at 4pm with the beginning of the classic car cruise in. Any ‘cool’ car is welcome and parking is first come, first served. There is no preregistration. “Come early, stay late,” says Schiele. “We’ve had some truly awesome cars show up and it sure does make the event for us!” The 50’s band, Class of 57, will be performing in the front lot from 5pm until 9pm. “Class of 57 plays great music that everyone can appreciate from age 1 to 100. It’s a good clean show and they really take us back to a much simpler, honest, and fun era. They really engage an audience of all ages with ‘easy to listen to’ music, great conversation, and fun games and contests. They are the perfect fit for this event, “said Schiele. “My 5-year-old can’t wait for ‘the bubble gum blowing contest and the hula hoops this summer at the church!’”

Food and refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the event provided by Shirley’s Kitchen of Hartville as well as the UMCU Fellowship Committee. Says Schiele, “for those that are looking, there will be many opportunities to rediscover our church in a non-threatening setting. For those who just need a family-safe evening out, come one, come all! In a day when gas prices cost more than fast food, what could be better than good eats and great music in our own back yard? And if you bring 2 canned goods, you’ll not only be giving back to our own community – you’ll also receive a free bag of popcorn!” Canned goods collected will be given to Lake Township FISH.
The event will be held rain or shine. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on and join us on August 23rd for our third ‘annual’ LIVE@U-Town: Oldies Night & Cruise In from 4-9pm.”
