A pressure cooker is a simple way to cook nutritious and flavorful meals in less time (it cooks foods 3-10 times faster) and with less work. And it helps save money by turning inexpensive cuts of meat tender. Because the cooking process is faster, it also helps to retain food’s vitamins and minerals than doing so the traditional way.
Bought new by my Nana in the early 1950s, this vintage stove top Presto Model 604 Cook-Master Cooker is a 4-quart aluminum pressure cooker that’s complete with its original pressure regulator (rocker or jiggler), cooking rack and instruction/recipe book, and newer automatic air vent and sealing ring.
Overall, it’s in excellent condition for its age and will give you continued years of use, too! Made in the USA by National Presto Industries in Eau Claire WI.
Note: The sealing ring and air vent were replaced in 2020. If you prefer to replace both the sealing ring and air vent before using the cooker, it’s easy and cheap to do…just go to https://www.gopresto.com/product/4-quart-pressure-cooker-604.
